| Who
are bannlynchgolf? Bannlynchgolf
was formed by renowned Australian coaches Steven Bann and Dale Lynch. Both Steven
and Dale are former Head Coaches of the world renowned Victorian Institute of
Sport Golf Program, graduates of whom include Robert Allenby, Stuart Appleby,
Geoff Ogilvy, Aaron Baddeley, Steven Allan, Richard Green and Marcus Fraser. Together
they have hand-picked a team of Australia's best young coaches. These include
current VIS Head Coach Denis McDade, Michelle Howard , and the highly regarded
Michael Sund. All
bannlynchgolf coaches are AAA rated by the Professional Golfers Association of
Australia. What
days are classes run? Classes
are conducted on every day of the week. Please refer to the Class
Timetable. How
long do classes run? Junior
squad sessions run for 1 hour. What
age can my child start? Your
child can start with Bannlynchgolf at 5 years of age, depending on the attention
span of the child. Parents are required to be present for the first few classes
for 5 year olds. Do
the classes work in a level format and are there other children in the classes
around my child's age? We
try to group the clinic's according to age and ability as best as possible. But
this sometimes does not always work with the busy schedules of other sports and
availability of times that parents can bring their children. If there are any
problems and concerns with the clinic that your child is in please feel free to
talk to any of the coaches about rectifying the situation and we will try
to help in any way possible.
How much does it cost?
Costs
per term are dependant upon the number of weeks in the school term and the squad
level that your child is at. For example, some of the higher squads have a private
lesson per term factored into the cost. Please refer to the Class
Timetable for fee details. Are
there separate classes for girls and boys? No.
We have mixed classes at all squad levels. Does
my child require individual coaching, or group clinic's? Through
our experience this depends on the ability and age of the child. We often find
once the child is reaching approximately 12 years of age, they prefer individual
lessons as they are beginning to increase the learning intensity to one on one. Am
I allowed to watch the classes? Yes,
but from a distance! Enjoy a cup of Coffee at MGA's licensed Café whilst
you wait. Can
I have a hit whilst I wait for my child? Yes.
MGA is a public facility and you are welcome to have a hit. Does
my child need any clubs or special equipment? Not
straight away. We can provide all the equipment that your child needs when they
come to classes. The equipment we provide is specially designed for junior golfers
and will be matched to the height and strength of your child. Eventually however,
you may want to invest in a few clubs so that your child can practice between
lessons. Does
my child need any special clothing? No.
Just comfortable clothing that is not restrictive. If you don't have golf shoes,
wear a flat soled shoe like a running shoe. What
do we do if its raining? MGA
is an undercover facility and inclement weather won't interrupt sessions. What
if we miss a class? The
fee is based on 6 participants in each group for the duration of the term. Unfortunately,
if a class is missed, we are unable to provide a refund. All effort will be made
to cover the areas which were missed in the next class. Can
we practice in between classes? Yes,
we encourage it. Again, MGA is a public facility and will welcome both you and
your child. Check with the friendly staff about MGA 'Happy Hours' where balls
are offered at reduced rates. Are
there any requirements of parents before commencing at bannlynchgolf? Yes.
Parents will be required to sign an indemnity form before starting classes at
MGA. This is required by the PGA of Australia for any junior group or individual
sessions. Does
bannlynchgolf run school holiday programs? Yes.
Check the Class Timetable
for details. When
can my child start to play on the golf course? When
they have a reasonable understanding and experience on all areas of the game,
including short game and rules. Supervision at all times is recommended at an
age of 12 and under and especially if it is the first time on the course. This
acts in the best interest for safely reasons and to the enjoyment of your child. Bannlynchgolf
have a close affiliation with the Stuart Appleby Junior Golf Foundation. The Appleby
foundation arrange competition outings at golf courses in our area, and we recommend
that your child become a member. For students of Bannlynchgolf, we are able to
offer a 50% reduction on the SAJG joining fee ie $12.50 per annum. In addition,
we are currently negotiating limited 1 day per week junior memberships with clubs
in our area (ie. Friday afternoons etc). How
old does my child have to be before I can join him/her for membership at a golf
club? This
can vary, generally around 14yrs of age depending on the club. The golf bodies
can assist; Australian Golf Union, Victorian Golf Association or Women's Golf
Victoria. They all have Junior development areas that can point you in the right
direction. How
